Client asks

Collect client decisions and approvals from Linear issue comments using @alignear ask—responses post back to the issue automatically.

Alignear is a client communication layer for teams using Linear. Client asks let you collect decisions, approvals, and input from clients directly inside Linear—without manual follow-up emails.

How to trigger an ask

In any Linear issue comment, type:

@alignear ask [client name] [your question]

Alignear reads your message, summarizes context, extracts options, and sends each recipient a focused response page.

With a client name

Alignear sends directly to that client:

@alignear ask John Doe should we prioritize dark mode or SSO for Q3?

@alignear ask Sarah which invoice format works for your finance team, PDF or CSV?

Without a client name

Alignear asks you to pick recipients before sending:

@alignear ask should we launch the beta with limited or open access?

What happens next

  1. Clients receive an email with a link to a clean response page.
  2. They read the context, review options, pick an answer, and optionally add a note.
  3. Their response is posted automatically as a comment reply on the originating Linear issue.
  4. Track everything in Asks on your dashboard—who received the ask, who viewed it, and who responded.

Dashboard inbox

Open Asks in the sidebar to see all asks for the selected team. Open any row for the full question, options, recipients, and status.
